Winter hiking in Saalbach-Hinterglemm

The winter wonderland in Salzburgerland

Winter hiking in Saalbach-Hinterglemm
Winter holiday in Saalbach

Another exhilarating activity in Saalbach-Hinterglemm is hiking during the winter season. On 140 kilometres of hiking paths you can walk and hike through the snow-covered Glemmtal Valley.

A winter holiday doesn’t have to be exclusively about skiing. If you are looking for an alternative, we recommend winter hiking. Everyone who enjoys hiking in summer will find pleasure in hiking through beautiful snow-covered landscapes. This allows any person to escape reality for a while and explore a glimpse of their own fairytail.

Enjoy pure nature

The idyllic winter scenery in Glemmtal is a paradise for ski tours and snow shoe hikes. Once a week free as well as guided hikes take place in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. You will of course get further information at the Kristiana Art Hotel. We especially recommend the following hikes with starting points in Saalbach:

  • Saalbach –Vorderglemm

This hike starts at Saalbach’s civic centre and leads you past various picturesque farms. Furthermore it takes you to Jausern whereafter you return to Saalbach along the Saalach promenade.

Distance: ca. 1 ½ hours

  • Saalbach – Maisalm (floodlit toboggan run)

Starting at the civic centre you walk to the dam wall and further to Spielberghaus.

Distance: ca. 1 ½ hours

Adventure Baumzipfelweg (“treetop path”)

The Baumzipfelweg with “The Alps’ Golden Gate Bridge” in Hinterglemm’s head of the valley offer a new perspective. It is 1km long and reaches an altitude of up to 30m above the forest. From there you will be able to enjoy unique views over fir tree tops along with the snow-covered winter landscape.
